ABSTRACT Critical service-learning pedagogical models in higher education differ from traditional service-learning models and require educatorsí structure student learning experiences with an explicit aim toward fostering social awareness and encouraging social responsibility in addressing key community concerns. This article describes collaborative work between university faculty and community partners in developing a pedagogical model that engages college students in an innovative community-wide program for improving public health outcomes for aging adults.
