ABSTRACT
Critical service-learning pedagogical models in higher education differ from traditional
service-learning models and require educatorsí structure student learning experiences with
an explicit aim toward fostering social awareness and encouraging social responsibility in
addressing key community concerns. This article describes collaborative work between university
faculty and community partners in developing a pedagogical model that engages college students
in an innovative community-wide program for improving public health outcomes for aging adults.
