ZEITGEIST: Popular Culture and Teacher Education
Belinha De Abreu, Drexel University, PA

ABSTRACT
In a world where mass media and various forms of multimedia platforms are available to students
and teachers, it is hard to reconcile the lack of popular culture teachings in the classroom.
Teaching and learning about the importance of popular culture must begin in the colleges of
education which need to recognize the value of this work in order for future teachers to meet
the needs of the 21st century learner.
