ABSTRACT
Collaboration among authors has become commonplace in many forms of scholarly writing,
from grants to journal articles. However, the collaborative process is seldom examined
and agreed upon from the start, leaving the process open to misunderstanding. This
collaborative paper provides a theoretical framework for coauthor dialogue by examining
reasons for collaborative writing, the collaborative continuum, and recommended techniques
and procedures for successful collaboration in scholarly writing.
