Collaborative online examination
Kathleen E. Norman, Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada
ABSTRACT
In small classes with many opportunities for direct interaction, a Learning
Management System is often used principally as a repository for course notes.
This case study describes observations of providing the option to master’s level
physical therapy students of completing a final written examination entirely
online after most of the course had been conducted using face-to-face lectures,
demonstrations and laboratory sessions to develop clinical skills. The ways in
which an online examination format creates both opportunities and threats are
explored.
