Evaluating a Community Service Learning Project            Elaine Gunnison, Seattle University, WA ABSTRACT This article describes results from the implementation of a community based action research service learning project in two criminology undergraduate courses at a Jesuit University whereby students researched crime in their communities and generated policy implications. Results from the analyses indicate that students’ opinions about service learning in general improved. Students also reported that they gained a better understanding of how to research crime problems in their communities, gained a better awareness of crime problems in their communities, and better understood how to generate solutions to ameliorate these problems.
